Advanced Rail Energy Storage — Webinar

Here’s a webinar I conducted yesterday on Advanced Rail Energy Storage, or ARES, a new concept in cost-effective, grid-scale energy storage.  I interviewed ARES CEO Jim Kelly, and covered a range of issues spanning the physics and economics of energy storage, ancillary grid services, and the challenges facing those of us who advocate for the integration of massive amounts of renewable energy onto the grid.

To be honest, I went into this conversation fairly skeptical of the potential efficacy of this solution, but came away far more convinced in the concept’s value.  If nothing else, I feel I’ve made another important friend in this incredibly vibrant issue.  Jim got here from a 38-year career as an extremely senior executive with the power utilities; he’s “not just anybody,” as I like to say.
