Energy Investment Non-Starters

Energy Investment Non-StartersMost of the clean energy “investment opportunities” I turn down are marred by huge technology risk,  requirement for additional development capital,  lack of “skin in the game” on the part of developers, an exec team clearly comprised of yahoos, or some other obvious flaw.

Here’s one I booted earlier this morning for an even more obvious reason.  Yes, as advertised, it’s a 10 MW waste-to-energy plant, but it’s coupled with a 600 MW coal plant!  Here’s what I wrote the dude: The main project here is a coal plant? Seriously?  My investors are people of conscience.  I’d get the same reception asking them to fund the development of chemical weapons to commit a genocide. Sorry.

“That dog don’t hunt,” a client once told me, in a colloquial rebuke of some suggestion I had made.
