Pro-Nuclear People Have Interesting Ideas

nuclearenergy-120315055148-phpapp02-thumbnail-4It’s been some time since I’ve mentioned the pro-nuclear online group of which I’m a member.  I find these people interesting because of their strange enmity towards renewable energy; most of them harbor the mistaken belief that the entire renewables industry is their opponent, and they need to discredit solar, wind and the rest as unworthy of public funding or private investment.

In any case, I thought I would pass along this wonderful article that suggests, perhaps counter intuitively, that a certain minimum level of background radiation is necessary for living beings to thrive.

FWIW, I have no doubt that this is true;  I’ve heard people say this before.  Just the other day, someone suggested that the meteor impact that whacked the dinosaurs 65 million years ago caused nuclear reactions that ultimately shaped the progression of the life forms that developed since and that ultimately led to the human species.

That all this adds any merit to the development of nuclear energy at this moment in time is, of course, malarkey;  I hope the rest of the group understands this.
