    According to articles which I have found with google searches, hybrid cars generally have lower depreciation than standard cars. Therefore, buying a new one may be a good idea from the depreciation standpoint as well as the fuel efficiency standpoint.

    Also according to articles found with google searches, battery powered cars have much higher depreciation than standard cars. Therefore, buying a new one may not be a good idea. However, the high depreciation may make used ones a good buy for people for whom their range is adequate.
