New Hydrokinetic Devices: Burden of Proof Is on the Inventor

energy-hydroHere an extremely common occurrence here at 2GreenEnergy: the submission of an idea from an inventor with a patent but no working model of the device.  Like so many others of this type, I respond:

Will this generate electricity when inserted into a fluid steam?  Yes.  Will it do it cost-effectively?  No.  Do I expect you to take my word for this?  Based on nine years’ experience with conversations like these, hell no.

Having said that, the burden of proof is on you, as, in this case, the device invokes drag (vs. lift) technology, which is something that cutting-edge research in hydro and wind have long since abandoned.

So I would ask you to build a scale model, test it in a creek somewhere, and measure the power output, along with the water speed and size of the device.  If this compares favorably when compared to lift-based systems, please let me know and we can talk further.

Regardless of what happens, I applaud your creative and entrepreneurial spirit, and I wish you the best of luck in this and all future endeavors.
