Trump, Catholics Part Ways

It’s easy to see how Catholics in America find themselves between so many rocks and hard places.  Trump’s decision to run for office on a platform to the right of Mussolini has made him a darling to those who are categorically anti-abortion and, in some southern states, have brought forth laws that enable the courts to penalize offenders with death.   (If anyone knows of a greater irony, please notify me at once.)

But members of this religion are led by Pope Francis, one of the greatest humanitarians the world has ever known.  Single-handedly, he has reversed 1600 years of doctrines regarding homosexuality, women’s rights, wealth inequality, war, environmentalism, immigration, and dozens of other issues regarding love and respect for others the world around us.  How must these people feel about a president who has shown nothing but H-bomb rattling, hate, divisiveness, and a self-centered mishandling of COVID-19?

Well the answer is shown above: his approval rating has fallen 23 points in the last two months.

In the last few weeks he’s begun to lose the support of women and the elderly.

Remind me again:  Who’s going to vote for him in November?
