Fighting Stupidity and a Pandemic at the Same Time

As shown at left and in the comments below, there are entire communities of people who believe the pandemic is a hoax.  I thought readers may be amused, horrified, or some combination of the two by the discussion here.

Person A: Absolutely true..the facts would speak for themselves

Person B: Haha that’s so TRUE!! 😂😫

Person C: Yes so true. It is real on the TV and to those who watch it and go into agreement. One can only imagine the intelligence that the Worlds (sic) politician’s (sic) are receiving.

Person D: There are many studies being written and paid for right now to prove this is wrong.

Craig Shields The only problem here is that it’s completely false. Between my wife and me, we know five people who have died of COVID-19 thus far.

Person E: I’m sorry, this is not only a rude and ridiculous post but invalidates those of us whos (sic) family members, neighbors and clients contracted it. Certain aspects of the total scenario may be mis-represented or even false, but the actual symptoms from Covid19 overshadow anything experienced by “the flu” and for the people and families who get hit hard, the death is awful. Simple flu doesn’t shut down your lungs and doesn’t put you on a ventilator. You live in lala land if you believe what you posted.

Person F: While I don’t (sic) agree with shutting down the world for a disease that 98% survive, I will say it is real. Cremating my mom who died of covid, yesterday.

Person G: It’s a stupid and insulting meme, unsurprisingly especially to those who’ve lost loved ones, who have not just a right but an obligation to speak the truth to the issue.

Craig Shields: My issue with this isn’t that it’s asinine (which it is), but rather that it’s a criminally harmful thing to do. Trying to convince others that the entirety of the scientific community is lying and that there is no need to protect themselves and others in the middle of a pandemic is a profoundly deeply destructive act.
