Bullish on Renewable Energy

The author of the graph below is obviously bullish on renewable energy–doesn’t that have a familiar ring to it?

Seriously, that projection of renewables goes right through the roof, and that’s a good thing, of course.

But is that what the world will look like in the year 2060?  It’s possible, but I doubt it.

Nuclear is such an attractive option, and 40 years is a long time in which to perfect it, whether “it” means liquid fluorine thorium reactors (advanced fission), or the aneutronic fusion of alpha particles (aka helium nuclei).

Of course, this is essentially what we were saying 40 years ago.  Who knows?
