Breakthrough in Carbon Capture and Sequestration?

Interesting discussion here. People of conscience are by definition environmentalists, or, to put it another way, if you’re not an environmentalist, you’re not a person of conscience. Having said that, I would think all environmentalists would be thrilled to burn coal if there were literally no issue with the CO2 (and SO2, NOx, Hg, Cd, Pb, etc.) The issue really is how near we are to that point, both technologically and economically. Though I’d love to believe otherwise, I’m skeptical that we’re anywhere close.
This, of course, is the issue driving the debate on the validity of electric transportation, as discussed here.

I still contend that carbon sequestration is a losing proposition and that the most efficient method of sequestering carbon is to not release it to begin with.
Exactly. Leave it where it is. And knock off the deforestation, currently proceed at the rate of 1.8 acres per second.
