Article on Smart Grid – Thanks To 2GreenEnergy Intern Nikita Rao

Thanks and congratulations to 2GreenEnergy intern Nikita Rao for her first article on smart grid, published here earlier today. This is a subject that is rightfully garnering much attention, as it’s so clearly integral to our civilization’s ability to achieve a rational approach to energy generation and consumption. 

We should all be blown away by the ever-expanding number of ways we can combine ICT (information and communications technology) with our use of energy in our buildings, cars, and industrial processes, to make such rapid progress in the direction towards sustainability here on our home planet.

Of the hundreds of examples available, did you know that over 20% of the fuel used in our cars in urban settings is consumed looking for parking spaces?  What happens when available parking spaces broadcast “I’m open!” messages to our cars’ GPSs?  It’s goodbye to a great deal of wasted fuel.
