We Live on a Pale Blue Dot

Coincidentally, Robert Picardo (pictured), the narrator of these excerpts from astronomer Carl Sagan’s book The Pale Blue Dot, was two years ahead of me at the William Penn Charter School in Philadelphia. His class (1971) had quite a few talented and creative people, and I remember telling a friend when we were sophomores, “There are three or four incredibly gifted people in that class. Picardo, however, is a genius.”
When I told him this at an event we attended last year in Los Angeles, he responded, “Damn it, Shields! My wife couldn’t make it tonight! She needs to hear that!”
Enjoy.
