Floating Solar PV Panels

Here’s a job opening for someone with the training in physics, engineering and computer science that are required to model the effectiveness of solar PV panels that float on water.

With all due respect, who cares?  Are there any scenarios where this could possibly add more than a small fraction of installed solar?  I’m not saying it has zero applicability; if you’re a population-dense country with a ton of lakes, I suppose you could have an interesting discussion here, but let’s be real: this isn’t a “thing.”

Here is a controversial recommendation: Concentrate on areas that have real applicability in keeping this planet from frying itself.
