Biden

At this point, Biden is almost as abhorrent to environmentalists as the Republicans are, principally because of his tepid response to climate action, which, presumably, he adopted so as not to alienate conservatives.  It would be far better for the vast majority of Americans if everyone wishing to defeat Trump were to rally around a true progressive.

That said, Biden’s playing his hand well.  Firstly, he knows that damn near everyone who opposes Trump will vote for the Democratic nominee.  If America learned anything in 2016, it’s that what happens when progressives split their votes can be completely tragic to this country and (almost) everyone living in it.

Biden’s centrism distinguishes him from the masses, and will pull votes from a significant number of Republicans who understand how terrible it is to have a psychopathic liar in the White House.

Historically, Biden’s championed many progressive causes including unionized labor, rights of gays, women and minorities, gun violence prevention, environmentalism, and immigration reform.

At the end, he’s a politician, navigating the choppy waters that stand between him and 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.  What he does if elected remains to be seen.
