America Plays a Strange Role in the World

Here’s an illustration of the difference between the present-day U.S. and the rest of the world: where everyone else is looking for solutions to international problems, we’re looking for a solution to Trump’s disapproval rating and the threat it poses for his re-election. Trump believes the path to success is self-aggrandizement coupled with military and economic aggression, obstruction of justice, handouts to billionaire donors, denial of science, cruelty and racism.
Maybe he’s right. Yes, America as a whole has suffered terribly, having become a laughing stock on the world stage. But for Trump himself it hasn’t worked out too terribly so far; he’s still the most powerful person on Earth. Does anything else really matter?
