Trump Confirms U.S. Will Withdraw from the Paris Climate Agreement

I met a couple from Australia the other day who remarked how mean-spirited all this is.  The husband said, “The countries of the world work like dogs, for years, to get to the Paris Agreement; sure it’s imperfect, but it’s a good start.  And then the most important country on Earth pulls out of it, just because it can?  It’s disgusting.” 

“I’m so sorry and deeply ashamed.  I feel the same way,” was all I could think to say in response.

Anything that angers those of us who care about the future of human civilization instantly becomes Trump’s order of the day.  This is essentially all he has going for himself, i.e., the us-versus-them divisiveness that keeps his supporters motivated. Fortunately, even that is starting to sputter.
