11,000 Scientists: We Face a “Climate Emergency”

From this article: “Scientists have a moral obligation to clearly warn humanity of any catastrophic threat and to ‘tell it like it is,'” a group of scientists wrote in a letter published in BioScience Tuesday. “On the basis of this obligation and the graphical indicators presented below, we declare, with more than 11,000 scientist signatories from around the world, clearly and unequivocally that planet Earth is facing a climate emergency.”

What happens when science comes into conflict with Big Money that benefits from denying the findings of the world’s scientific community?  We’re about to find out.

As an observer, what I like most about this is that all these scientists are so passionate, a characteristic they’re not generally known for; in fact, the scientific method is based on a kind of emotional distance from the subject in question.

My belief is that the level of rancor of the common person will soon grow to a point that even the governments that are most corrupted by the fossil fuel industry will be forced to respond.

Again, we’ll see what happens.
