World Opinion of the United States

It hasn’t been a good last few years for the United States, and world opinion reflects that.

Perhaps the most significant issue, as shown in the bar charts below, is the erosion of democracy, as exemplified in the attempted coup, orchestrated by former president Donald Trump.

What one hopes for, of course, is justice.  If it happens, we can expect a great resurgence in the opinion of the rest of the world.  This is what happened when the United States expelled Richard Nixon.  Many people doubted that we had the capacity to remain a democracy in the face of a man who acted as though he was above the law.
