Planning for the Future on Planet Earth
News flash: human civilization has precisely zero plans, be they short-term or long-term, for future generations.
Now, this may not be the case for the “savages” like the native Americans, whose leaders make decisions whose effects take into account the well-being of their great-great-great-great-great-grandchildren.
Yet the “developed” world, certainly American capitalists, couldn’t care less about the quality of life on Earth right this minute, let alone next year. Floods? Wildfires? Loss of land mass? Ocean acidification? Loss of biodiversity? All of these are someone else’s problems.
