More Strange News on Trump and His Supporters

As usual, Fox News and its viewers have a distinctly twisted way of looking at the world.  A few comments:

Why poll people on their perceptions of what groceries cost?  The price of groceries in the United States either is or is not rising, quite independently of how people respond in surveys.

The truth is that inflation is running at around 3%, which is not horrible, regardless of who claims otherwise.

A smart friend of mine once told me that U.S. presidents are generally given too much blame when times are bad and too much credit when times are good.  Honest and intelligent people do not blame Trump for rises in prices, especially as modest as they are.  However, they are appalled about his pitiful lying, and about his deplorable lack of interest in the issues that are destroying the lives of so many Americans.

Of course, our nation’s ambivalence on prices could change very quickly depending on the effects of Trump’s extreme tariffs.  If, as many economists predict, prices go through the roof and large swaths of American businesses are wiped out, this country, as dimwitted as many of us are, will figure all this out and turn on him in about 15 minutes.
