Today’s Meaning of “Socialism”

Re: the remarks at left, yes, it’s a “generational difference,” but the real issue is that we’re comparing apples to motorcycles.

By definition, Soviet-style totalitarian communism made ownership of private property/enterprise illegal and held the entire starving population in slavery to a totalitarian leader.   By contrast, democratic socialism, which forms the governance of the happiest countries on Earth, encourages free enterprise while using government to provide free healthcare and education.

Some people sadly can’t (or don’t want to) see the difference.
