What Overturning Roe Actually Means

As of yesterday, a pregnant 11-year-old girl in Arkansas who was raped by her father, whose fetus has no chance of being born alive, could find herself in prison if she receives an abortion.  The doctor who performed the operation could receive an even longer sentence.

Now, perhaps from your vantage point in Vermont or Oregon, you might say, “Well, that’s just one more good reason not to live in (or go anywhere near) Arkansas.” I can’t say the thought didn’t cross my own mind.

Yet I think we need to be more high-minded.  It’s painful to live in a country that permits this level of cruel stupidity.
