I’m sure the actual reason that today’s air travel is so uncomfortable is complex, but it strikes me that there was a limit to corporate greed 50 years ago that is altogether absent from our lives today.
Those of us that were luckily born in the midle to late 30s / 40’s and early 50’s — have seen the best.
It will never be the same — because the bastards running things now — all “think they can take it with them”.
Flying first class from San Francisco to Hawaii on a 747 Pan Am Clipper — was “travelin'”.
AS a young boy in the late ’40s – I got to fly from England back to the US in a Pan Am / Boeing double-decker C-97 Stratocruiser — and it was better back then; than what you have to put up with today.
