The Name “Trump-Kennedy Center” and All That It Implies

Most Americans are unable to point to something that Trump has done since he retook the White House in January of 2025 that has had any effect other than to ruin a national institution.

The Kennedy Center is a great example.  Once a venue comparable to Carnegie Hall, Trump’s usurpation of this treasure has brought it to its knees.

As if we couldn’t have seen this happening.  Do you think the most sophisticated people on the planet want to have anything to do with one of the vilest human beings who’s ever walked the Earth?

As they authored the U.S. Constitution, the Founding Fathers may have had thoughts about being more specific in defining the limits of presidential power. As we sit here today, we wonder if what Trump’s done to the Kennedy Center is legal, but also:

• Aren’t there laws that prevent the president from bulldozing a wing of the White House?

• Can the president launch an unprovoked war against another country, on the basis that it sits on a huge amount of oil?

• Does the president have the right to order his justice department to criminally prosecute his enemies?

• Why aren’t there prohibitions against a convicted felon and adjudicated rapist running for president?

• Can the president pardon thousands of his supporters, including those who were convicted of aggravated battery against law enforcement personnel?

Some say that it’s not the fault of the Founding Fathers that they didn’t think this through; they simply never had the thought that the American people could possibly sink to this level of stupidity.  I whole-heartedly accept that.

We can only hope that all this will soon be behind us.
