Take a Cool Guess—The Fun Quiz on Sustainability. Today’s Topic: Turn Signals

Question: What would you guess is the approximate percentage of cars and pick-up trucks that use turn signals in a small town in inland town in Santa Barbara County, California? Is there a discrepancy between cars and pick-up trucks?

Answer: Yes, and it is huge.  Please see: Clean Energy Answers.

Possible reason for the discrepancy:

a) The main purpose of turn signals is to help pedestrians and other drivers easily and safely navigate around us.  It’s primarily about consideration for the wellbeing of others.

b) Pick-up trucks are seldom driven by professionals in medicine, law, finance, corporate management, and any other position that requires an advanced education. If you doubt this, look through the “physicians only” section you local hospital’s parking lot.

c) There is a huge inverse correlation between college educated people and Trump supporters.  I.e., the higher one’s education, the less likely he is to support Trump.

d) Trump himself has essentially zero concern for anyone who cannot make him richer and more powerful.  His supporters admire this callous indifference to others and tend to exhibit it themselves.

    Yup…

It’s worth recalling seven data points:

    • While Trump claimed, “I love the poorly educated,” he doesn’t respect them.

    • Political strategist and advisor to Bush the Lesser, Karl Rove, declared, “As people do better [i.e. get more money], they start voting like Republicans – unless they have too much education and vote Democratic, which proves there can be too much of a good thing.”

    • The study of cognition and linguistics demonstrates that vocabulary – as one example of education – facilitates the ability to think. It is a proven truth that the more words one knows, the better one is able to think.

    • Trump whined, “Smart people don’t like me.”

    • Though IQ is a flawed metric, it is a feature of the scale that half of the population necessarily rates below 100, and professional judgement is that those with an IQ of 50 to 70 can often live independently but may only achieve up to about a 6th-grade academic level.

    • Though not an official diagnosis, it is the published professional opinion of dozens of psychoanalysts that Trump has clearly shown himself to be an increasingly unhinged and demented malignant narcissist.

    • Cult members typically only awaken when they attribute their own personal suffering directly to the cult, or notice that the cult is preserving and or increasing extreme difference between the nature of the lives of rank-and-file faithful (poverty and or strict obedience) and the luxury and or special treatment enjoyed by leaders’ inner circle.

In short, Trump is everything we teach our children not to be.

There in no leadership standard lower than the present occupier of our People’s House.

Great points. Given that the mean IQ of human beings is 100 with a standard deviation of 16 means that approximately 0.00089 of the population of 340 million scores at or below this level. Can someone with this meager intelligence figure out how to vote? In any case, that’s ~303K.
