When It Comes To Renewable Energy, Everything’s Good for Somebody

It seems sure that virtually every form of renewable energy will eventually wind up playing a role–somewhere.  Just like the U.S. has wind in the Great Plains, solar in the Southwest and biomass in the Deep South, each part of the world has its own unique set of resources–and challenges–with respect to replacing fossil fuels with clean power.

Scotland is a good example of a place where tidal hydrokinetics is bound to play an important part of that region’s energy future. The reason: the tides are heaviest at the extreme latitudes, and Scotland has a wonderfully progressive way of looking at environmental protection. Also, the Scots are not afraid of doing good things for people outside their borders, as evidenced by the three-word policy they announce to Syrian refugees (“Welcome to Scotland”).
