Referring to Journalists as “Enemies of the People”

It would be hard to list all the reasons that the leader of the free world should not tell his followers that journalists are the “enemies of the people,” but here’s perhaps the most obvious: the incitement of violence, as explained in this video.

There are places all over the world in which journalists are routinely arrested, imprisoned, tortured, and killed–and there is one distinct process via which these countries arrived at that terrible place:

• a leader threatened them

• the people were too apathetic to do anything about it

• the whole disgusting process was accepted and normalized

• the tyrant became completely entrenched

We Americans may not want to admit it, but we find ourselves at a crossroads.
