Trump and Hate Crime

As much as I hate the violence that Trump engenders in our society, I question the logic presented in this meme. Correlation does not imply causation.

Trump holds rallies in regions whose politics favor him, and are therefore growing in terms of hate-related violence.

Put another way, if his people made a mass miscalculation and he came to Santa Barbara, would we see a 226% increase in hate crimes? No, unless you count the rotten fruit we’d be trying to throw at him.
