Trump Struggling To Gain Traction in Pandemic

Only 22 percent of Americans say they support those protesting the stay-at-home orders.  Despite Trump’s messaging, even Republicans oppose the protests 47 percent to 36 percent. Asked whether they agree or disagree with Trump’s “LIBERATE” tweets, only a quarter of Americans say they agree.

This is yet another fantastic illustration of the fact that Trump really doesn’t have the chops to deal with this (or any other) crisis.  Being out of touch with reality and pandering to the hateful and ignorant base seems to work well if you’re talking about imposing senseless tariffs, tearing up peace agreements, rolling back environmental regulations, building border walls, and the like.  But when you’re talking about life and death of potentially millions of people, even the morons (like the one shown here) draw the line.

We have the President of the United States attempting to console the nation with words like “I’ve been briefed on every contingency you could possibly imagine. Many contingencies. A lot of positives. Different numbers, all different numbers, very large numbers, and some small numbers too.”  We have him tweeting support for protesters violating the laws in several states (that just happen to have Democratic governors). All this causes concern in even the dimmest of minds.
