Sure, Trump Lies Like a Rug, But…..
It’s true that uneducated Republicans believe his lies, but I don’t think it’s true of those at the upper end of the scale. If I were to ask my mom, e.g., if the president is a habitual liar, I think she’d answer in the affirmative, but quickly qualify this with something like, “It’s true that he’s a bad person, but he has good ideas.”
I have an old pal whose friendship goes back to our kindergarten days who runs a hedge fund who feels the same way. Trump is a revolting person, but….small government, low taxes (especially on the rich), no affirmative action, healthcare for those who can afford it only, tough on crime and civil disobedience, no immigration, screw public schools, etc.
If tough on crime works, how come the US has a massively higher prison population than the EU, and still has way higher levels of violent crime!
Take a look at countries like The Netherlands 63 prisoners per 100,000 and Norway 60 per 100,000! That compares to USA 655 per 100,000.
Both have substantially lower violent crime rates than the USA with 10% the rate on incarceration!
