Is Our Demagogue-in-Chief Nearing the End of His Career?

The venerable 20th Century journalist and cultural critic H.L. Mencken left us with this: ‘The demagogue is one who preaches doctrines he knows to be untrue to men he knows to be idiots.’

I join about 55% of Americans (and at least 80% of the rest of the literate world) who believe this is what we’re experiencing in the United States right now; it’s what we are trying desperately to rid ourselves of.

Some say American society is doomed. Given this, it’s hard to argue to the contrary.
