Will The United States (Literally) Dodge a Bullet?

The number of Americans who believe the 2020 presidential election was rigged will continue to fall every day, as the people at Fox News and the hard right-wing congressmen like Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell acknowledge, one by one, that Trump lost the vote in a free and fair manner, and that the courts were honest and correct in their findings that there was no evidence of significant fraud.  

We all understand, however, that this number will never go to zero, though that’s not important.  The falling number means that with each passing day, more of Trump’s former support base is realizing that the man is, at some level, deranged, and that taking up arms to “win back the country” and “stop the steal” is really a bad idea.  They look at videos like this one from Fox, and say, “This is insanity.”

It’s possible that the country will miss the brunt of the wave of gun violence that once seemed inevitable.
