People say that Trump is so impetuous and unpredictable that he’s impossible to deal with. That may be true in certain cases, but certainly not in his energy policy, which is extremely consistent; it’s all about bringing back jobs in dead-end technologies, while attempting to kill their competition, i.e., renewable energy. Here’s a quote from Rob Siltanen, an advertising executive who worked at TBWA/Chiat/Day, the agency that created Apple’s “Think Different” campaign. While I enjoyed it, and I hope you will too, I point out that there is nothing crazy at all about the belief that one can change the world.
In fact, it’s easier to question the sanity and moral soundness of people who see no imperative to change the reality of today’s world, i.e., that the greed of a few is destroying the environment and the quality of life for everyone else living on this planet, and all those yet to be born in the future. Well, since you asked, let’s start by boycotting their products and overturning Citizens United, the U.S. Supreme Court decision that enables them to buy our elections.
From there, let’s get rid of the new tax scam, from which they will save a mere $1.4 billion annually. Given that there are still 450,000 people in Puerto Rico without power four full months after Hurricane Maria, I’m guessing that the money could be put to good use.
Silent, tasteless, odorless, and colorless: these words describe radon gas. At one point in time relatively few knew about this harmful substance and even less understood how they could be at risk of exposure. In modern times, society has developed test kits to reveal this elusive substance and subsequently guard against it. However, it is not just radon gas that requires society’s attention. It’s hard to think of a more enviable career than photographer for the 130-year-old National Geographic, published continuously since its first issue in 1888, consisting largely of articles about science, geography, history, and world culture. Imagine being paid to have experiences of sublime beauty–all around the globe.
Such a position doesn’t some without its sad moments, however; imagine covering elephant poaching, or, in this case, the melting of the Arctic. I hope you’ll check out this incredible video.
Insofar as the renewable energy universe is abuzz with the president’s slapping a 30% tariff on silicon-based solar panels coming into the U.S., I thought I’d offer a few comments vis-a-vis the effects this will have on the industry:
