images (2)The development of green homes has really seen a sharp increase in the last couple of years. This is great news, as it signifies that we are becoming more and more aware of our environment and the impact we as a species have on it. Not to mention that green homes can save quite a bit of money along the road, provided that they are built following a specific set of environmentally-conscious guidelines. That said, let’s go over the following five tips every homeowner should know when it comes to building a green home. (more…)

Agucadoura_WindFloat_Prototype-696x522The future of wind is big…in more ways than one.  Yes, the cost of wind energy keeps coming down, causing ongoing excitement among developers and environmentalists. But the literal size of the turbines is increasing as well (10MW offshore turbines will be available soon, and 20 MW turbines are under design).  Also expanding is the number of available sites, due to the development of floating wind farms, the first one of which recently became operational–the Hywind project in Scotland (pictured above). 1-RIzYV_qPs5tQbfeeF8me1gAir compressors are essential for the use of high demand tools like pneumatic wrenches, paint sprayers and sanders. Industrial tools like these demand power, and the right air compressor can be the ultimate workhorse in providing it. For workshops that require a consistent flow of air to perform daily jobs well, compressors supply a compressed amount of air to drive tools without hassle. There are five main types of air compressors on the market – rotary screw compressors, reciprocating compressors, scroll compressors, screw compressors and centrifugal compressors. But how do you know which workhorse is right for the job? (more…)

organic-sealsWe can all agree: there’s no better way to start off your day than by sipping a fresh cup of coffee and letting its smell and flavour wake you up and prepare you for the day. While for some smell of coffee is one of the best smells in the world, others can’t imagine starting a day without it and that makes coffee one of the most popular beverages worldwide. (more…)

download (4)No question or debate exists about whether the planet’s global climate is warming, it simply is. Meteorological data shows that quite clearly. Some people may argue the cause of it, but no matter who or what is causing climate change, it’s happening. The next step is figuring out what we can do about it. (more…)

Koch-CatoHarrasser-in-Chief MarcoPolo writes:  (Here’s) a quote from a speech by Marian L. Tupy Editor of Human Progress:  “Since the fall of communism, global warming has been, without question, the most potent weapon in the hands of those who wish to control the behaviour of their fellow human beings. …. Environmentalism, like all –isms, can become totalitarian. It is for that reason that, when it comes to our environmental policies, we ought to tread very carefully.”

I know there are people who claim that climate change is a hoax, formulated to throttle the world (or the U.S.) economy. But does this conspiracy theory hold any water? (more…)

1-tV3-TqJ1tPRcqVZD2xF3WgMy old friend Steve Vachss makes the following remarks (below) on climate change, and, in particular, the recent publication from ThinkProgress: “2017 is so unexpectedly warm it is freaking out climate scientists.”

Given that his conclusion (that renewable energy is a good idea) agrees with mine, you might think that I’d just let the whole thing slide with a “right on!” or an “atta boy!” and let well enough alone.  Sorry; no can do.  🙂  I couldn’t resist presenting a few points he should consider.  (more…)
