The Intentions of the Chinese Are Clear

There’s nothing devious about this at all; the Chinese have been trying to take over the world for the last 6000 years, and Trump’s arrogance and naivety has given them a huge shot in the arm.

What’s the point of reacting to this buffoonery?
Our president is a sick clown. We all know that.

Coincidentally, I have a fine friend from boyhood who’s also an infectious diseases doctor, and even more coincidentally, he tells his former classmates essentially the same thing: these vaccines have been rigorously tested for both safety and efficacy.
The most lethal disease threatening our society is our appetite to elect bald-faced liars and crackpots who reject science, and bid us all to follow along.

When you go downstairs to breakfast from your hotel room in Tokyo, you’re greeted with dozens of different types of fish. Is this wrong in some way? What about the New Yorkers with their sour cream, capers, and lox? Are the most sophisticated people on Earth going to an eternity of torture in hell for dietary habits that don’t conform to those of the people in Oklahoma?
Seems unlikely. Of course, I live in a country in which Trump enjoys an approval rating north of 40%. So anything’s possible.
I’d also be curious to know what one’s supposed to do with the stick of butter. Inject it directly into his coronary arteries?

This simply couldn’t have happened as recently as 15 years ago.

For one, and this is made explicit in our Constitution, we’re a country whose people are guaranteed a free exchange of ideas, and are not forced to be swallow state propaganda.
Some of think that’s a pretty solid concept. That’s especially true of those who risked their lives for their country, and the families that lost loved ones in the process of defending it.
It would interesting to know how many loyal Americans would like to knock Steven Miller’s teeth out.

My response:
It isn’t a bad idea, but it’s a fairly inconsequential one. Our representatives’ (legal) compensation structure is nothing compared to what they take home thanks to raw corruption: bribery, insider trading, and accepting massive campaign contributions from obscenely wealthy donors in exchange for favorable legislation.
All this creates huge incentive to hold onto those seats, which, in today’s climate means going along with Trump and his lunatic criminality.

We don’t want to live among hateful morons, not only because they’re repulsive, but because such people, when given the right to vote, tend to elect demagogues, aka criminal sociopaths. If you look around America in the year 2025, you’ll see what I mean.
Ignorance is more explicitly expensive when it comes to the costs imposed on a society of under- and unemployable people, associated with the damage they do to others, and then the prosecution and warehousing of criminals in prison.
