It seems like we’ve forgotten what makes life pleasant for the common American.

Between the end of World War II and the election of Ronald Reagan in 1980, taxes on corporations and the ultra rich were very high, and those funds were invested in programs that benefited the average citizen, principally infrastructure and education.

Since that time, the top marginal tax rates on those entities have fallen from about 90% to about 30%, public education standards have fallen through the floor, and the middle class is rapidly evaporating.  40% of Americans live from paycheck to paycheck, with many people holding down two or three jobs.

All we really need to do is repeat what made this country the strongest and most powerful nation on Earth.

With all the commotion swirling around Trump himself, it’s easy to lose track of people like U.S. Supreme Court Clarence Thomas and his wife Ginni, the latter of whom clearly participated in the attempt to overthrow the U.S. government following the 2020 presidential election.

I would argue that “shipping vulnerable migrants across the country” actually is “a campaign tactic.

Almost half of American voters regard these desperate immigrants as vermin, and find that tormenting them for fun is a real turn-on.

I doubt you’ll find a single vegetarian who doesn’t like the taste and smell of meat.  That’s not the point.

Vegetarians refrain from eating beef, lamb, pork, and so forth for some combination of issues pertaining to heath, animal rights, and environmentalism.

The petition at left begins: “Postmaster General Louis DeJoy needs to be held accountable for his actions to undermine an electric postal fleet.”

To be sure.  He needs to be removed, and prosecuted for the deliberate and extensive damage he’s done to the Post Office, from which he profited greatly via his enormous holdings in a competitor.

The EV community has been targeting the USPS for a couple of decades.  Not only is it a huge fleet, but the fact that its trucks make frequent stops makes it a significant beneficiary of regenerative braking.

Remarkably, only nine Republicans voted for a House bill that would prevent future presidents from overturning the results of our elections.  That’s right; 203 House Republicans voted no on this cut-and-dried coup prevention bill.

It’s amazing that people who call themselves “patriots” will not vote to preserve that which our Founding Fathers treasured most highly, i.e., political power in the hands of the American people.

In practice, however, it’s unlikely (IMO) that the United States will experience another coup attempt.  More than 800 insurrectionists have been charged, convicted, and punished.  And now, it appears that the top architects are going down hard.

This has been a feature of life in the U.S. for as long as I can remember, but admittedly, it’s getting worse.

If you want money for destroying people and their property, no one questions it for a second.

Try to help people?  Good luck with that.

There are two possible explanations here.  Trump supporters either believe that:

The entirety of the systems that monitor elections and administer justice are corrupt, and their hero, the true winner of the 2020 presidential election, an honest and effective servant of the American people, is being attacked by the radical left, the Hollywood elite, Deep State, or whatever–or

Trump may be guilty of some combination of fraud, election tampering, witness intimidation, extortion, or seditious conspiracy, but he’s nonetheless a better choice than some woke socialist who’s coming for their guns.

It’s hard to say which is more pathetic, but that really doesn’t matter, does it?

As far as I’m aware, there’s nothing you can buy on Amazon that you can’t on Ebay.

In any case, I haven’t shopped on Amazon in the many years since it became apparent how poorly it treats its employees, and, by extension, what a terrible person Jeff Bezos is.

According to the meme here, the answer is that ignoring the problem is so much easier, and there are so many distractions, the British monarchy amongst them.
