Are Republicans Jumping Ship?

OK, Florida wants MAGA-style Republicans, and Rick Scott certainly fits the bill. As governor, and deeply in bed with Big Oil, he made it essentially impossible to build solar plants. That will get hateful morons standing up and cheering every day of the week.
But why don’t they find someone who doesn’t look–and act–like he’s from another planet?

Commonly, we see EV drivers mocked for filling up tanks of gasoline for their emergency generators in preparation for hurricanes. How asinine.

Denial of science in favor of what crackpots say on social media is a phenomenon that, we can only hope, is going to be short-lived in our society.
And, as far as I can tell, it’s distinctly American. We don’t see people in Western Europe and the rest of the developed world kicking modern medicine to the curb.
That said, we’re a different breed of animal. Neither France nor Japan elected a president who suggested swallowing bleach as a cure for COVID-19.

That said, neither of these possibilities will be at all satisfactory to the driver of the vehicle shown here.

“At one time, he was a good mayor, with a caring heart when the tragedy of 911 took place in New York City. However, when he entered the dark and sick environment of Donald J. Trump, he quickly and willingly, went down a rabbit hole, into the abyss, where even the Republican Senate have mislead their “red” meat base into believing that they sponsor democracy when in fact, it is an authoritarian-fascism.”
Indeed. As far as I’m aware, Giuliani is unique in history for having thrown away an enviable reputation of honor to become a piece of scum. One needs to go to literature (Goethe’s Faust) to find a character who made such a poor decision.
On a much smaller scale, of course, this happens to people constantly. I’m sure every heroin addict on Earth wishes he hadn’t gotten his first high.
Here, however, we’re talking about one of the most visible people in the United States, a man who carried with him great respect, and who knowingly and deliberately ditched that to become one of the kingpins in a criminal enterprise.

As I made may way across the floor yesterday, the topic was reducing our consumption of meat. On the screen: “Bill Gates’ decision to go vegetarian will not save the planet.”
Do you think Gates believes that his eating habits alone are going to move the needle on climate change? Doesn’t it seem more likely that Gates, an extremely bright human being, is trying to lead masses of people to cut meat out of their diets, thus arresting the destruction of the Amazon rain forest?
Apparently, the people who write this garbage for Fox have an extremely low opinion of their viewers’ intelligence.

As the author of the meme here notes, however, the 2024 presidential election looks even worse.

Perhaps the coolest features demonstrated here are the dozens of different elements of software that help drivers find charging points, make reservations, align their cars to the charging mat, and then access real-time information as to the actual charging process and the health of their battery.
The demo in the video is done on a 2012 Nissan Leaf, whose battery health turns out to be 61%, which is terrible. If I were into writing puns, I might say that it’s terminally ill. In fact, it’s recommended that EV owners get new batteries at 80%, and recycle their old ones to people who will use them for grid storage.

I just came across this gem.
Achieving a sustainable culture is built on the assumption of kindness to others. People who are indifferent to the well-being of others are going to be unwilling to make sacrifices so that future generations can meet their needs just as we are meeting ours today.
