Now that the Supreme Court has allowed the individual states to ban abortion in all circumstances, we need to look at what would motivate such a state to force a woman to carry a baby to term that was conceived when her father raped her.

I can’t think of a reason other than fanatical Christianity.

If that’s the case, the First Amendment to the U.S. Constitution no longer has any meaning, and that would make our Founding Fathers extremely angry.

“The strangest transformation in human history?”

No.

Perverting the teachings of Christ has been a hallmark of Western civilization for at least a thousand years.  Remember the Crusades? The Spanish Inquisition? The slaughter of the Native Americans?

What actually has happened recently is the exponential growth of ignorance in America.

Here’s a cute way of expressing a message that the not-too-bright segment of the libertarians is fond of.

Call me weird, but I believe in human rights, i.e., things to which everyone is entitled.

Now, of course, exactly what those actually are can be debated.  Most of us would agree that freedom from slavery and torture should be on this list, but what about healthcare?  This isn’t controversial elsewhere in the world, but in the United States, we have an entire political party completely devoted to ensuring that poor people suffer and die of treatable diseases. With each new triumph of the ultra-far-right in the United States, the rest of the world finds a new way to respond in horror and disbelief.

One of the interesting things we learn from studying evil is that it often begets good.

Here’s a great example.

Dick’s Sporting Goods is one of hundreds of corporations that has  announced that every one of its employees will have access to an abortion as required.

Kudos.

He continues: Attorneys across the nation indicated that they have been swamped by requests from clients seeking to incorporate as soon as possible.

I know I do a great deal of gushing about Borowitz and his amazing wit, but clearly he’s done it again.

It’s the melding of two news items that have no real connection, in this case, banning abortion and Citizens United, in a way no one (and I mean literally no one) could have foreseen.

If I were to attempt something like this, I guess I would build a spreadsheet of perhaps one hundred different topics, update it daily, and pore over it to constantly see if I could come up with anything that works.

It would be a full-time job, and even then, I doubt I could come anywhere close to the master here.

Hawley is obviously incorrect here, but that doesn’t mean his followers are smart enough to understand why.

In the first place, the states with abortion bans are already deep red.  We will have colonized Venus before a Democrat carries a moral hellhole like Mississippi.

The second reason is that anyone who has the means to pick up and move to a blue state just because of this regressive legislation has the means to travel for a few days as required to have an abortion.

A true boob.

Let’s not forget about how overt and direct Ginni Thomas was in lying to Mark Meadows in order to solicit his help in overthrowing the U.S. government.

These people doubled down on this crap at dozens of times and places around the country–and damn near succeeded.

Now it’s time for justice.

The U.N.’ s statement (see photo of Secretary-General Antonio Guterres) about the U.S.’s overturning of a woman’s right to an abortion echoes what we all know from even a cursory review of the data: The only thing we’ve done here is condemn more women to agonizing deaths.

What I hope the U.N. and the rest of the world understand is this:  We simply don’t care. This repression of women is deeply ingrained into the minds of the ultra-right-wing, and, as of yesterday, it became law.

This video is entitled “Vivaldi on Marimba from South African schoolchildren.” A better title would be “Vivaldi on Marimba from South African schoolchildren whose parents are amazingly rich.”

This level of quality in education isn’t common, anywhere around the globe. Regardless, two points:

This will bring warmth to you heart, especially when you behold the look of pure joy in the performers’ eyes, and

the loss of music from our kids’ school curricula is a tragedy.
