So sorry to see this.

I won’t try to compete with the writers at PBS and all the other media covering his life, but I always admired his ability to summarize political events with genuine humanity.  His compassion for us all came through every time someone asked him for his views and a camera turned onto him.

I found this interesting.

That’s one damning statement, but I really don’t believe it’s true, at least for the vast majority of them.

These are not good people, but, in the absence of Trump, they would have limits. e.g., they wouldn’t have committed treason (supporting the overthrow of the U.S. government) if they weren’t terrified of Trump.

I have to think that almost all of them will be glad when Trump is gone, and they can go back to where they were before, that is, making hateful laws at the behest of the hateful, ignorant people they represent, and their rich donors.

I just came across this:

Jimmy Carter got on our plane seated in first-class. Got up before the plane left and shook every single hand on the plane and thanked everybody. The plane erupted it with applause and tears. It was awesome.

Carter will go down in history as probably the very best human being to ever occupy the White House.  This stands in such stark relief to what we experienced with the 45th presidency.

Below is an installment of former federal prosecutor Glenn Kirschner’s “Justice Matters,” in which we see video evidence that a U.S. representative from Georgia, Barry Loudermilk, gave a tour of the Capitol on the day before the insurrection, a day when the building was closed to tours due to COVID restrictions.  During the event, one of his “tourists” took pictures of hallways and stairwells, items that normally carry no interest. Joe Biden’s approval rating is 39%, because many Americans blame him for everything that’s going wrong economically.

I keep going back to what I believe to be a far more important aspect of our times, i.e., we just expelled a president who came within a gnat’s backside of overthrowing our country, and is showing no signs of giving up and going away.

From MSNBC: An Idaho man who was among 31 others arrested in downtown Coeur d’Alene for conspiracy to riot during a Pride event is a cadet in the Idaho National Guard.

This represents a valid fear that many Americans share, i.e., that, in the case of a civil war where armed Trump supporters rise up, some of our law enforcement personnel will take their side.

This first became a concern when we looked at the 800+ January 6th insurrectionists who have been arrested thus far and realized to our horror that a significant number of them were cops or soldiers.  These people made a conscious decision to put their support for a wanna-be fascist above the oath they took to defend our country and its constitution.

Does he understand that all these Republicans who are testifying against him are doing so under oath? What do you think his attorneys are going to tell him when he says he wants to go on camera and rack up a few dozen counts of perjury?

MSNBC’s Lawrence O’Donnell says “we are living through what feels like the end of the Supreme Court as we know it” while detailing the new Washington Post report that Virginia Thomas, the wife of Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas, was in contact with Trump-linked attorney John Eastman who was behind the plot to get Mike Pence to overturn the 2020 election on January 6.

So much for the judicial branch.

The executive features a former president and an uncountable number of his staff that are headed to prison for treason, or some array of other felonies.

Yet it’s the legislative that is probably the branch with the largest number of soon-to-be felons.  Think of all the representatives and senators who promoted the Big Lie, and influenced people in the battleground states to submit their own fake electors.

Darrell C. Scott is an American pastor, radio station owner/host, and a former advisor to then-president Donald Trump.

Now, does a conservative radio pastor need to know a great deal about law?

Of course not, but I thought this was funny nonetheless.

It’s hard to believe that Kyle Rittenhouse, who shot and killed two unarmed protesters, has found an attorney who is willing to file a defamation suit against Facebook. (more…)
