If we were to list the people who have worked hard to destroy American education, Betsy DeVos, the U.S. Secretary of Education under Donald Trump, would be at the top.

What makes her even more exceptional is that she admits what she did.

The majority of Americans have progressive values, and one is acknowledging and dealing with systemic racism.

It’s so good to see that the owner of the Las Vegas Raiders is accepting Colin Kaepernick and actually complimenting him on his activism.

This, of course, is going to roil conservatives, who went insane with delight when Trump said about a black protestor, “Get that son of a bitch off the field!

Let’s not lose sight of the fact that the Republican Party is the traditional home of some very fine and righteous people, who happen to hold values that existed in the GOP until recently.  Reagan’s platform of personal accountability, limited government, law and order, and a strong military got him elected twice, and made him one of the most popular presidents in U.S. history.

Now, most of those values have been replaced by expressions of hate and ignorance, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t plenty of Republicans, like the fellow here from Michigan, who are decent people at their core, and have sufficient personal integrity to walk away from Trump and his lies.

You might think that there is one and only one stance that is possible on Russia’s brutal invasion of Ukraine: some blend of disgust and anger.

You’d be wrong.

Because the U.S. President is a Democrat, he must be opposed on everything he does and says.  What we see here is that there are absolutely no exceptions, regardless of how obviously correct the president’s position, which is why some Republicans are saying that Russia is justified in its actions.

The answer to this guy’s first question is yes.  Yes, this is the best they have.  He suits his voters’ way of thinking, which is why they keep electing him.  That’s the sad part.

What Robert Reich says here is perfectly true, and it’s easy to blame Democrats for their failure to develop and promote a compelling message.

I point to demographics, and in particular, the sprawling ignorance of U.S. voters.

Working class Americans have grasped onto a party that actively makes their lives worse with each passing year, a party that counts on its belief that their voters are too stupid to figure this out. And sadly, so far so good.

As long as that’s the case, and we continue to crank out young people from failing school systems, with terrible skills in terms of critical thinking and basic logic, there is no message on Earth that going to move people to the Democratic Party.

Obviously, we all hope Russia is beaten in Ukraine and retreats with huge costs, financially and diplomatically, that discourages them from launching similar invasions in the future.

But a quagmire implies something that is ongoing, like the U.S. involvement in Vietnam.

I don’t think there is a humanitarian on the planet who wants Russia in Ukraine 10 minutes longer than absolutely necessary.

Illinois State Professor Emeritus George Kiser gave us the marvelous quote here.

It’s not clear when he actually wrote  this, but, since he’s obviously referring to the United States, it was probably fairly recently.

Yes, as suggested below, America has always maintained a “cult of ignorance,” but anyone who has lived here since 2015 has seen our anti-intellectualism explode to proportions that couldn’t have been imagined before that time.

Electing Donald Trump President of the United States and our mass rejection of science would have been completely impossible just 10 short years ago.

Obviously, abortion is only one of dozens of issues that differentiates Republicans from mainstream Americans.  But if Roe v. Wade is overturned, 26 other states will join those listed in total bans on abortion, and we’ll be back where we were 50 years ago.

Keep in mind that the sprint to the right that we’re seeing from today’s GOP may only be the beginning.  Maybe we can have nonwhite U.S. citizens count as 3/5 of a vote.  There doesn’t seem to be a limit.

What’s the problem with simply arresting him?  As reported previously, a daily fine of $10K will require 1370 years to burn through Trump’s net worth.

Why are we allowing our country to be led around by the nose by an obvious felon?

Where one of the U.S. Senate’s great fools, Susan Collins (R-ME), concludes that letting Trump back on Twitter should be of no consequence to anyone.  What is consequential is that we’re talking about it.

At this point, the nation’s political scene is just a sick joke.
