Apparently, the Christmas tree outside Fox News headquarters caught on fire, and the author of the meme here sees a certain analogy.

Speaking of the Republican party, it seems “you ain’t seen nothin’ yet.” We may be just a few short weeks away from understanding everything that happened on January 6th, and the events that led up to it.

If the truth is what it appears to be from the recently uncovered text exchanges, and our nation’s top people conspired to overturn the election results, it will be proof of by far the most heinous crime in U.S. history.

“I’ll never understand how Trump’s mocking the disabled reporter wasn’t the end,” said one observer.

It truly was astonishing that Trump went on to become a president, one who would tell more than 30,000 lies over four years, survive two impeachments, and commit fraud, extortion, election tampering, witness intimidation, and incitement to commit insurrection–only to go leave office with his followers believing that he lost a rigged election.

Now, Trump is his party’s leading candidate for president in 2024.  Simply amazing.

A reader sent me this, and commented, “Thank God for comedians.” Funny stuff.

Seriously, America more harmonious than we’re being told?  Sorry, but no.

If America were homogeneous, you’d find about 40% Trump supporters, 50% who regard him as a criminal sociopath, and perhaps 10% who really don’t follow this closely enough to have an opinion.

Now, of course, America is nowhere close to homogeneous.  2GreenEnergy “headquarters” is in a rural part of Santa Barbara, California.  If I were to introduce myself to a neighbor and suggest that Trump should be behind bars, I’d very likely have the tar kicked out of me. A mere 30 miles down the road is the city of Santa Barbara, where one would be hard-pressed to even find a Trump supporter.

It’s hard not to have an extremely high regard for Marcus Aurelius, a man of peace and honor, and arguably the most famous of the Stoic philosophers.

What he says here wouldn’t have raised any eyebrows before now, where, suddenly, we have real estate agents who consider themselves Constitutional scholars, and baseball coaches explaining to us what we should know about epidemiology.

Here’s a company that does ICE-to-EV conversions, specializing in extremely high-end vehicles.

The challenge I see here is that almost all these cars in decent condition have functioning, top-end gasoline engines, and thus you’re throwing away something of great value.  You may find junker Rolls Royces and Bentleys with old, tired engines and transmissions, but then you’re spending a fortune in restoring the car itself. Dishonest businessman telling lies

The 23rd Annual Petroleum Conference is underway in Houston, TX, and outside the building is a banner that reads, “Welcome To Houston, Energy Transition Capital of the World.”

What’s the significance of this?  Does the industry embrace the phasing out of fossil fuels in favor of low-carbon energy resources? (more…)

From the AP:

LANSING, Mich. (AP) — Nine lawyers allied with former President Donald Trump were ordered Thursday to pay Detroit and Michigan a total of $175,000 in sanctions for abusing the court system with a sham lawsuit challenging the 2020 election results. (more…)

Here, Trump’s niece speculates as to the former president’s thinking about the 2020 election.  While I believe most of what she has said over the past couple of years, I doubt this one.

If Trump actually believed he won, wouldn’t he ask Georgia’s secretary of state to simply recount the votes, rather than berating, begging and threatening the man to overturn the election results?

“Just find me 11,780 votes” is not a command that comes from someone who believes he had more votes than his opponent.

NPR News

From this:

A new NPR analysis reveals that since May of this year, people living in counties that voted for Donald Trump have been almost three times as likely to die from Covid-19 than those living in counties that Joe Biden won.

NPR published its findings on Sunday after examining the number of deaths per 100,000 people across nearly 3,000 U.S. counties since May 2021, when vaccines became widely available. They found a disturbing trend: counties that voted for Trump with a 60 percent or more majority had 2.7 times the death rates as counties that Biden won. This data can partially be explained by another troubling finding: higher margins of victory for Trump correlated with lower vaccination rates.

Was a study really done to show that people who resist vaccinations for a disease are at an increased risk of dying from that disease?  Actual resources were consumed to prove this point?

People of good character don’t wish that stupid people suffer an agonizing death, purely as a result of their low intelligence.  Having said that, if someone has to die, these truly are the best candidates.

Inciting the insurrection is, indeed, a “sexy” charge.  And if it’s the most provable, fine.

From where I sit, however, you have election tampering in Georgia, formally referred to as “criminal solicitation to commit election fraud.”

Knowing that the election results have been counted three times, Trump says to the Georgia Secretary of State, on a recorded line, “Just get me 11,780 votes.”

As explained here, that’s good for one – three years in prison.  Plenty of time for the Justice Department or the Southern District of New York to craft several other charges.
