No wonder Trump supporters are pulling their hair out when they see the progress the Biden administration is making.

Scarcely a day passes without something good happening for the American people–anything from controlling the pandemic, to reducing cruelty to children, to protecting the environment, to creating jobs with an infrastructure program.  All this must hurt like an absolute b****.

Surely there are dozens, probably hundreds of cartoons depicting Trump as he continues to single-handedly destroy the Republican party, but this one really spoke to me for its cleverness and simplicity.

These are outrageous times in which we live.  The vast majority of Republicans in Congress, and about 70% in the electorate itself, cling to the myth of the stolen election, or at least claim to.  Trump himself is almost as present in these people’s lives as he was when he was president, and he has near total control of his party in Washington. I wrote yesterday in my post Applying Logic To Politics that someone had just sent me a meme he’s published to the effect Biden is killing the economy, as evidenced by the rising unemployment numbers.  But all unemployment numbers fell in February and March, and were unchanged in April.

One of the saddest and most frightening features of today’s insanity is the abandonment of facts and truth.  People simply make stuff up and put it on television and/or social media.  A great example of this is the humiliating defamation settlement that Fox News wanna be Newsmax was forced to reach with Dominion Voting Systems.  From Forbes: (more…)

Apparently, almost no Republicans are concerned about their party’s abrupt shift from conservatism to delusion.

A friend and I talked about this the other day, during which discussion she said that progressives don’t have a lock on truth.   This, of course, is true.  But I told her, “All these issues that are based on facts, rather than opinions, are either correct or incorrect.  This is a law of logic formulated by Aristotle 2300 years ago (“non-contradiction”). Here’s a Facebook post of an old friend.

I guess that means she’s an anti-vaxxer.  And probably believes the pandemic is a hoax?  So sad.

Even worse that she advertises it.  It’s bad to be ignorant; it’s worse to be proud of it.

From Carl Sagan: “One trend that bothers me is the glorification of stupidity, that the media is reassuring people it’s all right not to know anything.”

Keith Olbermann nailed this, didn’t he?

Educated Americans share a deep loathing of Marjorie Taylor Green, her racist hatred, and her limitless ignorance.

Small wonder she wants people out of school.

Fox News personalities Pete Hegseth and Will Cain got all excited Wednesday about the South Carolina House of Representatives approving a bill that would add the firing squad as a method for executing people on death row.

Hegseth kicked off the discussion with a “callous” comment about how there are now three ways to die in the state if you are on death row. “Shoot ’em, stick ’em or fry ’em,” he said, referring in part to the electric chair, which is also used as a method of execution in South Carolina.

Callous? Shee-it. This is what Fox News provides its viewers: the glorification of human cruelty, the ridicule of compassion.

A Brilliant College Student (shown below) Builds a Device To Rid The World of Mosquitoes.

I like the claim here: “ridding the world of mosquitoes.” And I love how all these wonderful new devices are coming out of brilliant young people, army vets, frustrated home-owners, or whatever. (more…)

From Politico:

Embattled Rep. Matt Gaetz had a clear message to a friendly crowd Friday night at The Villages: He’s not going away.

“I’m a marked man in Congress. I’m a canceled man in some corners of the Internet. I might be a wanted man by the deep state. But I am a Florida man, and it is good to be home,” Gaetz proclaimed. “Today, we send a strong message to the weak establishment in both parties: America First isn’t going away. We’re going on tour.” (more…)

A reader commented on the photo here as follows: I wish he (Trump) could die.

I don’t.

Sure, he richly deserves punishment, but I care far more about the fate of this country than I do about the justice that is due to one person, albeit a walking force for pure evil. (more…)
