Someone sent me this: (Pictured here) Congresswoman Liz Cheney leaves the U.S. Capitol today after being bounced from the GOP House leadership for daring to tell the truth about the Jan. 6th insurrection. She said, “I will do everything I can to ensure that the former president never again gets anywhere near the Oval Office.” Cheney is taking up where John McCain left off in the honesty and integrity category. Eleven Madison Park, a top Manhattan restaurant, is going meatless. The Epicurious cooking site stopped posting new beef recipes. The Culinary Institute of America is promoting “plant-forward” menus. Dozens of colleges, including Harvard and Stanford, are shifting toward “climate-friendly” meals.

If this continues — and the Boston Consulting Group and Kearney believe the trend is global and growing — beef could be the new coal, shunned by elite tastemakers over rising temperatures and squeezed by increasingly cheap alternatives. (more…)

The Correlation Coefficient (“R”) is one of the measurements of the strength of the relationship that exists between two variables.  A CC of 0.5 is moderate, but as we can see here, it’s quite visible.  (more…)

More good news.  From National Public Radio:
A federal bankruptcy judge dismissed an effort by the National Rifle Association to declare bankruptcy on Tuesday, ruling that the gun rights group had not filed the case in good faith.
The ruling slams the door on the NRA’s attempt to use bankruptcy laws to evade New York officials seeking to dissolve the organization. In his decision, the federal judge said that “using this bankruptcy case to address a regulatory enforcement problem” was not a permitted use of bankruptcy.

No wonder Trump supporters are pulling their hair out when they see the progress the Biden administration is making.

Scarcely a day passes without something good happening for the American people–anything from controlling the pandemic, to reducing cruelty to children, to protecting the environment, to creating jobs with an infrastructure program.  All this must hurt like an absolute b****.

Surely there are dozens, probably hundreds of cartoons depicting Trump as he continues to single-handedly destroy the Republican party, but this one really spoke to me for its cleverness and simplicity.

These are outrageous times in which we live.  The vast majority of Republicans in Congress, and about 70% in the electorate itself, cling to the myth of the stolen election, or at least claim to.  Trump himself is almost as present in these people’s lives as he was when he was president, and he has near total control of his party in Washington. I wrote yesterday in my post Applying Logic To Politics that someone had just sent me a meme he’s published to the effect Biden is killing the economy, as evidenced by the rising unemployment numbers.  But all unemployment numbers fell in February and March, and were unchanged in April.

One of the saddest and most frightening features of today’s insanity is the abandonment of facts and truth.  People simply make stuff up and put it on television and/or social media.  A great example of this is the humiliating defamation settlement that Fox News wanna be Newsmax was forced to reach with Dominion Voting Systems.  From Forbes: (more…)
