Of course. Patel and Cruz are both such reasonable and honest people.

Btw, I want to know where the mayor of Dallas was on November 22, 1963.

The United States needs to come to terms with the fact that there is an entire class of people, young and old, whose personalities are deeply rooted in the ultra-right-wing: Trump, white-supremacy, the rejection of science, Fox News, the dismantling of the federal government, and so forth.

The young Oklahoman at left is certainly nowhere near changing his political philosophy, and that’s just fine.

I’ve often wondered how those who purchase Trump paraphernalia (sneakers, coins, etc.) feel about their purchases.

Of course, the guy at left is only one patron, but he doesn’t seem too happy.

This is funny, but is she really any worse than any of the dozens of other paid liars befouling our media airwaves today?

On a post of this subject, a reader notes: There is nothing clean about wind turbines.

Wow.  Didn’t know that.

To keep this simple, I would simply say:

A) wind energy is about 9% of the total grid-mix in the U.S., and

B) in the main, it displaces coal, with its CO2 and methane, heavy metals (cadmium, selenium, arsenic and mercury), and a huge array of highly toxic radioactive isotopes. All this makes coal by far the most devastating source of energy in terms of environmental and human health.

Of course, if you have additional information on the subject that I have missed, please let me know.

You might call Trump a laughingstock, but only if you’re in a position in which he’s unable to harm you.  And that doesn’t cover too many people.

There’s nothing funny about Trump if you’re:

• Poor or working class, and vulnerable to rising costs of consumer products and healthcare

• A person of color, an LGBTQ, or a Muslim

• A woman of childbearing years

• An asylum seeker hoping for compassionate treatment that complies with domestic and international law

• A military personnel (of any rank) being humiliated by a commander-in-chief who has utter disrespect for you

• Trying to get a good education in a country with rapidly declining standards

• A patriot who values the Constitution and rule of law

• An American-based business that will sooner or later be eaten alive by tariffs

• A parent who’s finding it difficult to teach his kids about honor, truth, and personal integrity in a country with a president utterly devoid of these

• An erstwhile ally of the United States in Europe

We Americans, and those around the world, deeply wish that Trump were a laughing matter. But that’s very rarely the case.

If he can be deposed and incarcerated, that will be another matter.

For the last, say, 10 years, it’s been said that we live in a “post-truth” world.

Here’s a great example: Mike Johnson’s claim of a few days ago that the government can’t re-open until after the “Hate America” protest is over, with its “Antifa, BLM, and pro-Hamas” people.  “Wait till you see all the Marxists on the Mall on Saturday.”

Now, considering that the whole world knew before the rally (and received confirmation of it later) that seven million completely peaceful people were assembling in 2700 cities all over the world, doesn’t this guy look like a liar and total fool?

Not at all.  Today, Johnson is talking on camera, again with a straight face, just is if he had been even 1% correct about what happened last Saturday.

In a post-truth society, no one who fabricates ridiculous stories is discredited.

You must be thinking of the 20th Century, when honor and truth still meant something.

At left is something from social media.  Is it popular?  Probably.  Is it largely true?  Most definitely not.

Sure, there are people who want to sit around idle, but most people are self-respecting and decent, and that means living productive and honest lives.

I know that the meme fits in with the narrative that immigrants are “takers” from white society, but anyone who lives in a region of the country with folks from Central America sees instantly that these people virtually never stop in whatever job they happen to hold: gardening, produce harvesting, childcare, construction, etc.

I worked some pretty intense hours in my day, and even I’m impressed.

The point made at left is spot-on.

There may be exceptions, but the very last thing that our Earth’s most visible leaders will do will be to spontaneously decide to begin to cooperate with one another, as that would signal a diminution of their domination.

Want a good example?  Take Netanyahu.  He had opportunities all throughout this tragedy with Hamas and the Palestinians to save lives and alleviate suffering, but doing so would require him to loosen his fists on the absolute power he enjoys in Israel.

Now here’s a clever little rejoinder. Wow, he walked right into that one.

Seriously, with the exception of a few cities in Florida, Texas, and the Deep South, almost all big cities in the United States have Democrat mayors.

That’s because big cities tend to be areas of high GDP per capita, and a large contingent of highly educated people.  That’s bad news for Trump and today’s GOP, which cater to the MAGA group, found primarily in the rural areas.

To answer Jordan’s question.  Yes, I feel safe in Boston, NYC, Philly, Chicago, LA, San Fran, Portland, Seattle, and the rest.  Is there crime?  Of course.  Should residents and visitors keep their eyes open?  Sure.  But no one’s leaving America’s most productive regions because of crime.
