A segment of Newsmax tonight began with many clips from commentators from both parties saying that Donald Trump is the most powerful person in the word.  “All right, enough!” the host finally interjected. “Well, if he is the most powerful person in the world, why can’t he appoint whoever (sic) he wants to prosecute James Comey and Letitia James?”

Well, we do have a few sticking points here.

We have the U.S. Constitution, and 200+ years of rule of law, and the concept that no one is above the law.

And we have the question, “Given that they have taken stances against Trump, why not have them both summarily beheaded?”  Given that we no longer have a balance of powers among the supposedly three co-equal branches of government, what’s the big deal?

Three hundred years ago, that’s precisely what would have happened to people who took public stances against a king.

We either stand for freedom and loyalty to a constitution — or we don’t.  We can’t have it both ways.

About 20 years ago, a friend asked me if I was aware that cars could run on air.  I asked, delicately, what she meant, and she explained that cars can run on compressed air.

“Ah,” I replied. “Of course they can. But where does the energy come from that compresses the air?”  End of conversation.

Now, it’s back.  Now there are enormous swaths of the population who know so little about middle school science that they believe we can put cars on the road, in an ocean of air, and extract energy out of that air to power our automobiles.

If you’re among these morons and want to invest with some heavy-duty fraud/charlatans, here’s your opportunity.  They say that it’s “self-sustaining and needs no fuel.” If that makes sense to you, be my guest.

I live across the street from the K-8 school my kids attended 20 years ago.  The quality was superior then and it’s still going strong today. Its students look robust and eager to learn.
A) Do you think this meme here could be a VICIOUS LIE?
B) Does any credible person have a better idea for a “system?”
The Trump administration has an idea: closing the Department of Education, but many of us doubt that ignorance and stupidity is the best answer.

Wow! This device shown at left, the “Lomi,” is even more asinine than its competitors.

It’s ridiculous, but at least these folks are honest enough to admit that the user is consuming huge amounts of electricity at great expense to him and the planet.

With this product, you put your garbage in it, use electricity to reduce it to dried crumbles, and then throw it in your kitchen garbage bag!

Competitors pretend that all this drying happens by magic, and the product works miracles as garden fertilizer.

It all gets worse every day, as Americans steadily lose their ability to think.

If you believe that you’ve seen the bottom here, think again.  By the time I’ve left this planet, there will be people selling American ten-dollar bills for $20.

Why in hell would any decent person want to play an active part in ruining the planet?

When my father passed in 2010, he left me a considerable chunk of stock in Exxon Mobil.  I sold covered calls on it for a few months, but I was happy when it was called away from me.

I’ve never gotten anywhere close to an investment in an extractive enterprise, before or since, and neither should you.

Newsom?

So it appears — that is, if we still have a functioning democracy here in 2028.

Of course, the Republicans are going to be screaming that California is a socialist state and that everyone’s leaving to move to Texas or Florida. In truth, the population of the state continues to grow, and if it were not a state, California would be the world’s fourth largest economy.

Well, the 1970s was a time before:

• Corporate greed really took root and got a financial stranglehold on both employees and consumers.

• Our educational system failed, resulting in people stupid and mean enough to vote for Donald Trump.

• Social media became a huge force behind spreading disinformation.

• People respected the science that pertained to things like human health and environmental issues.

• Climate change and other elements of environmental decay threated to destroy the planet.

• The gap between rich and poor widened to the point that 60% of Americans live paycheck-to-paycheck.

• Congress abandoned its support of laws that were good for the constituent and focused exclusively on pleasing large donors.

• The United States became threated with the prospect of becoming an authoritarian state.

There’s good reason that the American people aren’t as happy as we were 50 years ago.

The very best thing to be said about what Pete Hegseth is doing is that’s he solving a problem that doesn’t exist, while appealing to gullible MAGA idiots.

Who in the hell is stupid enough to believe that the fitness standards to which our soldiers are held are inadequate and an alcoholic Fox News commentator has arrived to save the day?

Jesus.

Canadians have conservatives.

I’m not sure what they believe in, but this is for certain: none of them thinks that an unscreened and potential criminal psychopath has an absolute right to buy and use a weapon of war so powerful that its only purpose is to kill as many people as possible in the shortest possible period of time, making it perfect to take out whole schoolrooms of children.

Does anyone believe that Bill Gates actually said this?

He co-founded a company that partnered with IBM to provide the earliest, core software for the personal computer that exploded into the most important industry in human history.

There was no “proven system.”

Had he bought hundreds of Little Caesars Pizza and Jiffy Lube franchises, this would have been credible.
