This guy goes from 0 – 60 in 1.69 seconds, which sounds like it might be a somewhat painful experience for the driver.

In any case, it makes one wonder why EVs don’t take over auto racing.  One would think that batteries could be swapped faster than a fuel tank refilled.

I get emails from people all over the country who want me to know that California, via its “oppressive” environmental regulations, is driving people, and especially businesses, out of state. (more…)

As you look at the video here, ask yourself: How is it possible that “Andy” isn’t in prison for fraud? If the Justice Department wants to shoot fish in a barrel, isn’t this the perfect barrel? I’m not an attorney, but how hard would it be to find any paid invoice from him to a customer and using it to send him away?

I’m sure the picture here could be interpreted differently, but to me it says, “Yes, climate change, with its floods, droughts, wildfires and famines is ruining our planet, but we’ll be damned if it will ruin a good day of shopping for a $1500 purse.  We need to keep our priorities straight here.”

A reader sent me the piece to the left, wondering how exactly this curries favor with his base.

I’m as clueless as he is.

First, let’s point out that his is a combination of accusations and actual convictions. (more…)

Hard to know what to say about this one.  I guess: There are racists, and then there are racists.

Obviously, Trump appeals to white nationalists like no political figure since George Wallace, but don’t most of these people have some level of respect and appreciation for people who risked their lives to defend their freedom?

From The Borowitz Report: According to a new poll, Sarah Palin’s ability to articulate her positions on issues with precision and restraint is sorely lacking among other entrants in the G.O.P. race.

I honestly don’t know how this guy does it.  We all have access to the same information on a minute-to-minutes basis.  None of us has forgotten Sarah Palin.  But only Andy Borowitz can reach back and connect a seemingly unrelated item to a piece of breaking news in such an utterly hilarious fashion.  The guy is a magician.

We frequently lament that the U.S. federal government is going backwards vis-a-vis renewable energy, yet we are prone to overlook what is happening at the state and local level.  A new report from the UCLA Luskin Center for Innovation documents how “13 states, districts and territories, as well as more than 200 cities and counties, have committed to a 100 percent clean electricity target — and dozens of cities have already hit it.” (more…)

It could be said that the Catholic Church still has far to go with respect to cleaning itself up.  I prefer to look at this from the reverse perspective, and acknowledge how far the institution has come in just the last few years.

It’s hard to know how much sway Pope Francis holds over the thoughts and behavior over his 1.3+ billion followers, but one has to believe it’s considerable.  That’s a lot of people taking on a far more compassionate viewpoint than they may have had earlier on, potentially rethinking the way we organize our society and get along with one another.
