“Solar is ‘The People’s Power'” and presumably reduces the importance of the utilities in the lives of the people.
Really? How many people with PV panels on their roofs are completely independent of the utilities? Most of them are still connected to the grid so that they will have power when the sun is not shining. Some have batteries, but the batteries will become discharged if there are a few cloudy days in a row. Even so, for people who live in remote locations where connecting to the grid is not practical, PV panels may be the best option.
If people want to put solar installations of any kind on their roofs, they should be sure that they have very durable metal roofs which tend to cost much more than other types of roofs. If they don’t they will have real problems when their roofs require repairing or replacing.
