The Perils of Being a “Leftist”

20170422_130548Here’s an article written by a very bright woman who offers 10 reasons she’s no longer a leftist.

There are a few good and interesting ideas here.  In particular, there is no doubt that people on the left can be preachy, arrogant, unpleasant to be around, smug, whiny, and strangely, intolerant (i.e., intolerant of intolerance).  But it misses a few obvious points, i.e., the left is:

About caring about the well-being of all Earth’s people.

Energized: an integral to having this perspective is the belief that you and I can do something about the woeful conditions that exist on this planet.

Optimistic: we as a species are capable of much more than what we’ve achieved.

It’s really hard to argue that there’s something fundamentally wrong with this.  She tries, but IMO, ultimately fails.

    Craig,

You are to be congratulated for featuring Dr. Danusha V. Goska’s brilliantly expressed journey out of fanaticism.

Unfortunately, her wisdom falls on deaf ears.

How on earth you can claim that “About caring about the well-being of all Earth’s people.” is the sole prerogative of Leftists ! In fact, leftist ideology has never brought anyone happiness as the misery of leftist nations has proved.

Nor has leftist ideology contributed to improving ” the woeful conditions that exist on this planet” Again, on the contrary, societies with leftist regimes are are inevitably grim, repressive, stagnant societies, with citizens dreaming of escape.

That leaves your last erroneous assertion, by which you claim only leftist’s are ” Optimistic: we as a species are capable of much more than what we’ve achieved”.

    What arrogance !

I urge you to read Dr Goska’s article again, then examine your own reply and you may realize how your assertions serve as an excellent example for the accuracy of her observations.
