How to Increase the Energy Efficiency of Existing Structures – and WHY

Noted environmentalist and energy expert Bruce Severance will join me for December’s webinar: How to Increase the Energy Efficiency of Existing Structures – and WHY.

Now, if that title carries with it a certain feeling of mystery, that’s not an accident. From his vast experience as a design engineer, Bruce will offer us tips on eco-friendly construction and retrofit. But it is from his life-long advocacy for the environment that he proposes to tell us exactly why what we’re doing here and now has such a dramatic effect on the quality of the planet we’ll inhabit in a few years.

Hope you can join us. Sign-up information will be available soon.

  1. I can cut the amount of energy you need to heat water by 30% or more. And no, I am not a sales person for these things. It just made sense and I put one in and it actually works.

Here is a device that is simple to install, requires no energy to work, has no moving parts, requires no maintainance or upkeep and will not wear out. It is about as simple as it gets and it actually works as advertised.

The water heater has since been changed so the installation is now even cleaner looking. I was able to drop the size of the water heater from 50 gallon to 40 gallon and my wife and I still take back to back showers with no problem.

Calculate how much energy the entire country would save if we cut the energy for hot water by 30% or more.

Why aren’t these required in all new construction or refits?

Brian, Nice work and even more for sharing this with everyone. Maybe this will be built into every new home and water heater in the near future.
