The Climate Change Issue — Strangely Absent in the Presidential Debates

Like most environmentalists, I was peeved with the presidential candidates’ avoidance of the climate change issue in their first two debates.  Here’s a good article that has convinced me that this is probably best for those of us concerned with the subject.  The typical American voter is not disposed to process this stuff well, in a time of financial pain.

It is unfortunate that the climate change issue is a low priority. I suggest writitng to your legislators and to your local newspapers about increasing renewable energy and reducing fossil fuel use. As for personal action, may I suggest installing your own solar heater? You can heat air or water very cheaply with solar to ofset the utility supplied power. If you don’t have a fruit tree in your yard, it will benefit you twice… A growing carbon sink and a food source to reduce your transportation cost of food. Probably climate change is the most important issue of our day. However, candidates see addressing it as political suicide, so they avoid it.
