From Guest Blogger Jess Greenberg: Natural Gas on 2012 – What's Next on 2013?

In terms of the energy crisis, the States have had several controversies regarding natural gas for most parts of the year 2012. Politicians have been arguing about how to properly harvest natural gas as well as how the country can get it’s own supply of energy without having to rely on foreign oil. With President Barack Obama’s win during the last Presidential elections on November, natural gas will continue to be harvested, since experts have assured that the United States have enough natural gas reserves to last for 10 years. If one would also notice, there are new natural gas companies rising to meet residential and business demands for natural gas.

So I’m thinking, if natural gas was the biggest topic amongst those who are concerned about the nation’s energy supply, then what challenges are we going to face this 2013?

To be honest, while everyone agrees that natural gas is cleaner and more efficient compared to other forms of fossil fuel, there is still the controversy of harvesting the said fuel. Hydraulic fracturing remains a constant debate amongst natural gas companies and concerned environmentalists. The former have argued that fracturing has caused no problems for both the environment and public health, whereas the latter truly believe that constant use of hazardous chemicals during fracturing may endanger the health of the workers and, not to mention, the environment too. The threat has yet to be examined by the concerned government agencies, although U.S President Obama believed that hydraulic fracturing is safe for both the environment and public health. Researchers from other countries are now busy checking to see if there are other countries that is abundant with natural gas or any other form of renewable energy.

Some even believe that natural gas could be the key to ending the energy crisis.

Power

Asides from natural gas, there is also a renewed interest for other forms of renewable energy sources, such as solar and wind power. In fact, in Europe, huge turbine generators are now being experimented and built in order to use the winds as a source for natural energy. While solar power is now a proven energy source, it still requires more research, especially since most of the residential solar panels I see on the Internet are all scam. In fact, this is perhaps one of the main reason why solar power was almost forgotten as a renewable energy source. A lot of people have become victim to shady deals concerning residential solar panels.

Now back to natural energy, since it has become the hope of millions of Americans looking for an alternate source of energy, I can really expect a lot of energy companies emerging and using natural energy as their main source of power. In fact, some have also said that natural energy is cheaper, therefore I will not be surprised if these natural gas retailers make it big. I can only hope that these companies can really provide the best service for their customers. Otherwise, natural gas is doomed to follow the solar panel’s failure.
